Photo challenge: Free Spirit

This challenge made me ask myself, “What exactly is a ‘free spirit’?

I found a couple of definitions:

“A free spirit is someone or something who lives by their own wishes and is unconstrained by society.”

“People who live their lives as they feel, without worrying about what others think.”

I think that we all have the potential to be free-spirited, and this is realised when we learn to live life to the fullest and to experience all the joy that each day brings. I’m sure you’ll agree that people who are like this, are a real pleasure to be around.

Being out in the countryside, and taking in all the beauty which surrounds us there, is a great way to release the free-spirit within us, and so I chose this photo of my granddaughter, taken whilst she and her family were touring England recently. It just expresses to me the absolute joy and freedom of spirit that she felt when she was away from the confines of the car and able to let off some steam by running through that meadow.

  3. A very uplifting post. Love the image here….just a vision of a heart that is totally free. I too want to live like this, “A free spirit is someone or something who lives by their own wishes and is unconstrained by society.”

β€œPeople who live their lives as they feel, without worrying about what others think.” Thanks.

  5. Hi AD, I think that she was just excited that it had stopped raining long enough for some outdoor exercise πŸ˜‰

Great quote! Although, upon reading a second time I became confused by the “something”? How many “things” live by their own wishes and are unconstrained by society?!

‘Wow, that deckchair certainly lives by its own wishes and is completely unconstrained by society. Yep, that is one free-spirited deckchair.’

    • πŸ˜† You beat me to it, Lance. I was also wondering how that “some thing” had crept in, and was about to edit. Maybe it was referring to a spirit, as in ghost? πŸ˜‰
