Some of you may have been wondering why I haven’t liked or commented on you posts for a few days. I can assure you that it’s not for lack of trying. It’s been most frustrating indeed.
Further to my post a couple of days ago, reporting that I was having problems accessing certain people’s blogs because I couldn’t get past this message ‘transferring data from ‘use.typekit.net’, I have since been to this WordPress site http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/typekit/Β which tells me that this plugin hasn’t been updated for over two years and may have compatibility issues with more recent versions of WordPress.
I’ve only had this problem for the last few days, after doing an operating system and browser update, and I wonder if more bloggers are going to have the same problem, as their operating systems and browsers become updated. I suggest that if you are one of the ones whose blogs I can’t access, that you check your plugins, and if you find that you have ‘typekit’, disable it and let me know, so that I can try again. Yes, it has righted itself, but don’t ask me how. π Now my Firefox is playing up so that I can’t add photos. Safari works, but I don’t like it as much.
yay for self-correcting – nooooooo for firefox! have you tried Chrome? it’s not too shabby and it gets the job done.
My Firefox is behaving very nicely again. π

sorry you are havingntroubles ad, hope they are sorted soon …. i have my own issues with different apps, often try to comment or like something when i have a chance, but cannot do it, so when it worksmi have to try to visit a few blogs π

I’m happy to say that I managed to visit your great Warhol post this morning. π
If you back your system up using the Time Machine (highly recommended, for times such as this!) you can restore your previous version of Firefox and leave all your other software intact. At least you will be able to see those websites again, but then the trick is to not update Firefox until the WordPress plugin is updated as well.

Oh my goodness, that also sounds very frustrating, Madhu. This morning, it seems that the problem may have righted itself. I’ve been able to get into some of the blogs that were affected. π
I am not having any problems. Hope you find the fix soon.

I’ve often wondered about my choice of the large pic format – whether it takes really long to load with a slow connection. I think Footsy mentioned problems initially, but seems to be with me now. Has it been a problem for you?
Yours isn’t too bad, Gunta. I always reduce my pics to 640, or they won’t upload onto my blog, as the internet here is so slow.
I think that too many bloggers are trying to put too much fancy content into their blogs π
That is a big problem too, Chris. It takes so long to get into their blogs, that I often give up.
Get rid of the plug ins and for browser go Firefox or Opera. – I ignored all those plug ins, using Firefox as browser and I have no problems, If a Youtube won’t work so what I ignore it – 99% working is better than 40% working.
Mine is 99% working. It’s just these few blogs that I now can’t visit. I am on Firefox, and loving it.:)

Off topic I know, but a lot of plug-in’s on wordpress.org show as being not updated in 2 years, for instance the comment form on your site would show as not being updated in 2 years on org. So take that with a grain of salt. Besides your a wp dot com site not org to different animals.
Being a browser issue as you have wisely pointed out. If you go to someones site who is using this plug-in from use.typekit dot net your browser goes there retrieves the needed files then loads the pages you are visiting accordingly (custom fonts). Most updated browser to date do this well. Internet Explorer 8 will but you have to set to compatibility mode. IE9 and up is designed for mobile so 9 would probably have problems regardless I think. If the browser up dates are the culprits, they will probably fix quickly with another batch update -usually every two weeks.
To be truthfully I don’t even concern myself if IE works properly on my site or blog it is not worth agonizing over. As long as Firefox, Chrome work am happy. But I know some time down the road I will have to look at mobile compatibility.

p.s……PC users should do a cleaning of temp files and cookies, number one culprit for browsers working poorly.
I forgot to mention, use dot typekit dot net and or dot com requires some snippets of java script to be downloaded so I would guess that is what the issue some browsers are having with it (usually IE). By the way typekit dot net and com is not net has no site cookies which is new requirement of google so site owners should up date this font kit if this is what there using. I don’t mean to run on and am sorry to do so and feel free delete, I only mention all this because running a site even a wordpress.com site has lots of problems associated with it (head aches) and the problems will get even more so down the road so hold on.

I use Firefox and don’t have a problem with anyone’s blog except those who use typekit. There wasn’t a compatibility problem before, but since the new updates, this problem has reared its ugly head. I notice that some people’s blogs load so quickly and others take forever. It’s very time-consuming indeed, and the internet over here is so slow, which doesn’t help either.
