“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”Β Jimmy Hendrix
Ailsa’s travel theme ‘White’, is in honour of the 30th anniversary of ” International Day of Peace.” She has some wonderful white images on her post, which you really mustn’t miss.
My contribution to the theme is a few of my whitest nature photos, starting with this one from our 2010 trip to Wyoming. On our way to Yellowstone National Park, we encountered some of the snowiest and coldest conditions that we’d ever had to drive in, and this was in May. π
From cold to hot, here is one of the amazing geysers we encountered. It looked just like a boiling cauldron, and to see the snow and ice around the rim was really bizarre.
Here we have more white water, but this time at Niagara Falls. What a wonder to see this breathtaking sight from the Skylon viewing tower.
Talking about white water, I thought I’d slip this one in of our son having fun at the start of his white water rafting adventure at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
When our daughter and family were living in Vancouver, we went up to Whistler for the day. It was certainly very white there, and I don’t think I’ve ever shivered so much in my life.
Of course, nature isn’t all about hot, cold and wet; there are also the beautiful wild animals. We got quite close to white lions at a wild-life park in Johannesburg. This was the Big Daddy of them all,
and I’m sure you wouldn’t want me to forget the gorgeous white tiger cubs, would you? π
I hope you enjoyed my white pics, and wish you all a very happy, relaxing, and peace-filled weekend.

Great pics, thanks for sharing AP! How many layers do you have to wear to stay warm in that frozen bliss?
You’re very welcome. Marco. I did wear socks with my boots, which I don’t usually do, and also a vest which I hadn’t done since I was a child in England. A scarf, gloves and hat, were essential. π
I’m surprised you got away with so few extra items of clothing π Those pics are so awesome to look at! No doubt many more to come when you’re back in the States π

Even my mom wouldn’t recognise me. π
Ah yes, I remember that post and picture! All the ice and snow was fascinating and the dressing up, to! Don’t forget the fluffy bison, he he.
Your first picture made me shiver! I’ve been to Wyoming in the heat of summer, and never been so cold!!!!
I would love to go back to Yellowstone in Summer, and would hope to be a lot warmer than last time. That May, it was really beyond freezing. π
It was 36 in the morning of July 4th – not at Yellowstone, but in Billings. Brrr.
That’s pretty cold for July. We stayed in Billings for a night in May and it was only 26F. Coming from Africa, that felt rather chilly, to say the least. In Yellowstone, we didn’t get much above 17F. That was really cold. I wore everything I had with me. π

I always love how snow beautifies the surrounding, esp. the one in Florence :D. Only though, I hate cold!
I badly need a trip to see a fall, any fall.
Yes, I love to see the snow too, but living in this part of South Africa, my blood has become very thinned out. π I’m hoping to go to New York for Christmas, so may have to wrap up very warmly.
Uhm, I have a little favor to ask. Can you tell my employer to let me go so I can go with you?
Hahaha, You ask so nicely, Rommel, how could he resist? π
What a wonderful, eclectic gallery of white shots! Great! π
Thanks so much. Glad you liked them. π
Great shots AD. Yellowstone park of course is a favourite and also the white tiger cubs.

The DC
Thanks, DC. Sorry for the reminder. π
LOL,you didn’t have to remind me…the breath I see every morning around 5:45am when I go out for the day’s first smoke does that π
The early bird catches the cold. π
Yeah,LOL!
Great photographs. Obviously love the white lion and tiger pics but, oh, that snow – I want to go crunching through freshly fallen snow again. Time to get travelling!
Thanks so much. My photos also awaken the wanderlust in me. π
How do you always manage to combine such hugely contrasting pictures? Loved it.
Shakti

Thanks a lot. π
I’m loving your ‘hot’ white shots but less keen on the cold π
Thanks, Gilly. The cold was quite a shock to the system, coming from South Africa. π
My fondest dream – to experience an actual white Christmas…
Thanks for letting me view the white through your eyes AD π
I’m hoping we’ll get one in New York this year. π
Brrrr. You’re making me feel cold and that is no small feat here in Oman. I miss the snow and the cold and love Yellowstone National Park and white tigers. Can you believe, as an American, I’ve never seen Niagara Falls? Great post for the white theme, Sylvia!
Thanks so much, Cathy. It makes me cold just thinking of those places, but I’d do it all again, and probably will. π
I look forward to my first winter back in the USA, next year!
Great shots. Oh, my kids would love to pet a white tiger cub!
Thanks, Naomi. My grandchildren were thrilled with the opportunity. π
Great shots … the baby tiger cubs are wonderful.
