Ailsa’s theme: Couples #2

I was out and about at one of our local malls yesterday, and still had Ailsa’s “Couples” theme in my mind.

I used to be a very shy person, but these days I’m much braver. I did however surprise myself yesterday. I saw a father and his teenage son walking towards the mall from the car park. The young man’s shoes just seemed to wave at me; they were a couple of beauties, so I chased after them, and just inside the door, I asked, “Please can I photograph your shoes for my blog?” The son looked bemused, but his dad was so proud that someone wished to take a pic of them, so he positioned him nicely, and made him put his feet neatly together for the occasion. I snapped them, and they actually thanked me! You have to admit that they are quite different. πŸ˜†

Emboldened by my successful attempt as a roving photographer, I followed this elderly couple who were pushing a stroller. I was eager to see what must surely be their cute little grandchild.

When I got in front of them, I saw that the baby was covered in white fur! The couple didn’t mind at all when I asked if I could photograph him, and his ‘mummy’ even asked him to smile for me, but he was not amused. πŸ™‚

I’m afraid my next shot was rather sneaky, but I could hardly wake up this couple of sleeping beauties, or should I rather call them “Rip Van Winkles,” to ask their permission, now could I? πŸ™‚

A bit further along, I saw a pair of REAL beauties on display. A couple of “His ‘n’ Hers” super luxury autos. Hubby and I couldn’t agree on who should have the Rolls and who should have the Bentley, so we ended up not buying them. 😦

Then of course if one is looking for a really nice pair. there’s always the ‘Victoria’s Secret’ storefront.

  1. Loved this post AD, those two sleeping gents must be in the “Husband Park” we have one in our local shopping mall too. They get to watch the sport on TV and their wives can shop unhindered πŸ™‚ I have seen those dog buggies in the pet shop but never see one in use before – could understand if it was an elderly dog but not for a young one. As for those shoes – that boy has no chance of getting lost as longs as he’s got them on his feet πŸ™‚

    • Yes, in Umhlanga, we have the same arrangement outside Woolies. The ones here, have much too comfortable ‘Lazy Boy’ type chairs. hence the sleeping beauties. πŸ™‚ The boy with the shoes, looked about 16 years old. I wouldn’t imagine that those shoes would qualify as “babe magnets.” πŸ˜†

  2. Oh, simply delightful post…I love it!! We must be on the same energy plane because I planned to leave you a couple of blog awards shared by a pair from Netherlands. Here is my blog dog, Chuckles with the details: http://wp.me/p1RzUf-1sd
    No pressure…just enjoy! πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks for this, Adinparaides. You, wicked you, made me laugh. “pair” ha? πŸ™‚ And may I suggest, you and your husband should draw lots on who will have what car. πŸ˜‰

  4. Oh thank you for this, too entertaining! Much too fabulous! I am not so much a shy person, either, unless I’m with camera, then I’m all a-tremble. I have such a hard time asking permission. Surfers are easy, as they come right to me if they see me out there with my camera. Even then, I get nervous. Every other situation, I’m in terror. I keep hoping it will get better. I have asked permission, and then I’m so nervous, hands trembling like I’m suffering convulsions, and I thus botch the shot horribly. It’s ridiculous. I must seek some sort of therapy. This was just too charming. Those shoes are FANTASTIC! And too funny with the baby-dog! I am so happy to have your blog now to enjoy. Thank you so much. Cheers,

    • Thanks so much for your comment, and I’m so glad I made you laugh. I think we must learn to be fearless when we sally forth with our camera at the ready. πŸ™‚ You speak of surfers….. are you residing in Hawaii? I loved watching the surfing action there. πŸ™‚ Wishing you a wonderful day.

      • Haha, I WISH Hawaii! Oh I’d love to live there, what Surf AND volcanoes! Wooo! I live in Florida. I live in about the best place for Florida Surf, and sometimes, it can be quite excellent indeed. Yes, we must always be brave with zee cameras. So much to capture. I have seen incredible moments lost because I was too wimpy to raise the camera. Blast! Cheers,

  5. Best post ever…. couldn’t help but laugh at all the selections, but it’s all so Florida. πŸ™‚ Simply could not pick a favorite here.

  6. Those shoes sure are something aren’t they?! 😯
That poor little white pooch looked mortified.
Loved the two snoozing gents, and of course I’m always partial to a ‘nice pair’. πŸ˜›

  7. Hi AD, Bentley, Rolls, Cartier, Louis Vuitton all in the one pic, some serious labels to spend your money on πŸ˜€

  8. I enjoyed your trip around the mall very much Sylvia πŸ™‚ those shoes were quite something. I’m totally mystified by the dog in stroller :8O:, It would have to be the Bentley and your final pair.. 😳

    • Thanks, Adrian. It’s quite the thing to take your little pooch out in a stroller here. I even saw a couple in South Africa…….pink strollers! There’ll soon be an epidemic all over the world. πŸ™‚ Btw, you blush very nicely. πŸ™‚

  9. Love the shoes, funny with the stroller (we love Moonlight like family…but…really? πŸ˜› ),what are my 2 Grandpa’s doing in your mall? Take the Bently…you can mod it so easily to be fast (though expensively),IDK about the Rolls, and…LOL…tell Victoria that it’s not a secret anymore πŸ˜›

LOL,I’m in such a laugh at everything mood today, thank you for adding more πŸ˜€ It’s such a beautiful day today πŸ™‚

  10. ‘You have to admit that they are quite different.’

And the award for the understatement of the year goes too… πŸ˜‰
