This morning I got pinched and punched as I got out of bed, and realised that it’s the first of February already. The pinch and punch thing has been a family tradition ever since I was a child, and of course hubby has picked up on it. Most times I get to do the pinching and punching, but today I was a bit slow off the mark. Can you believe that there are only 326 shoppingΒ days to Christmas? Better get started now I suppose, as it’s amazing how time flies by.
I flipped to the new page on my ‘Boyds Bear’ calendar, which is something Santa has to bring me every year without fail.
I love this quote so much that I just had to share it. Happy ‘Love Month’ to you all, and have a great weekend.
I never heard of the pinch and punch. But I think this month is pretty special since yesterday was my birthday (Groundhog’s Day)! My photo workshop was the present I give myself each year (a new tradition I started last year!)
Happy Birthday hugs to you, dear Gunta. Great idea to spoil yourself for your special day. Your photos are always great, but I’m sure the workshop has taught you some new tricks. π
Happy Love Month Sylvia!
I got nose bonked by the cat this morning. π
Hehehe….at least it wasn’t by an alligator. π
Funny you should mention that. The other night I had a dream that alligators were crawling up at night into bed with me just like a cat would. Think just *maybe* I have been spending too much time around alligators?! π― π
You reckon?? π
… a tweak on the ear for the second month of the year … and a punch and a kick for being so quick .. by the time we are finished with this little scenario every 1st day of the month I’m glad π
Ouch! I don’t like the tweak on the ear at all. π―
I can definitely see why you love it. Happy February.<3
Thanks, Gemma. If Santa ever forgot, he’d be in real trouble. π
oh my goodness I also grew up saying a “pinch and a punch for the beginning of the month.” Hah! I forgot about it. I don’t remember the “no returns” part…!
Now I’ve reminded you, will you start up the tradition again? π
I get a Winne The Pooh one every year with the old original pencil drawings
That’s very special. Dallas. We do love our bears, don’t we? π
Isn’t it sad that the love month is short-changed when it comes to days?
Yes, you’re right, Col. π¦
Never heard of pinching and punching month.. As all girls in a family maybe pinching was a daily occurrence without being encouraged more… hahaha
This is done on the first of every month. My son even texted me “a pinch and a punch.” π
We say ‘Rabbits’ instead – another old custom.
Very cute bear, AD. π
Thanks, adee. Did you ever see a teddy who wasn’t cute? π
If every month were love month, the world would be a happier place π
Never a truer word spoken, Tilly. π
That’s a very cute teddy bear π And at least you know you’ll never wake up late on 1st of February π
I think all teddys are cute. π
Wishing you a lovely love month ad π
*hugs*
Thanks, Hopestar. You too. π Hugs
Adorable calendar! Happy love month to you too. π
Thanks, Madhu. π
Happy love month to you AD π
Thanks, Tandy. π
They say as we get older time speeds up… its got so fast now I don’t remember Jan… love the quote too .. good share..
Thanks so much. Yes, they say. “Time flies when your enjoying yourself.” π
Can’t believe it 1/12th already gone!
Me neither. Every year goes faster.
I have never heard of the pinched and punched tradition. Such an odd way to express affection. Hopefully you got hubby back!
I could have, as he didn’t say, “and no returns,” but I was merciful, π
Love the teddy.
Me too. I love my calendar. π
Happy LOVE MONTH! (I’m so using this π )
π Enjoy, Dianne.
When I got home after a long absence – is finally a little before the new year returned to his family – wife and donated a phenomenal gold wristwatch – you know what she told me – no my husband – I do not want to gold wristwatch – I want 24/365! – I was right – every human being on this planet – he lives for the love of tenderness, of care. – .. 365 days of the year – not just on certain days that have some specific, custom, or decree – this is a great post! best regards to you and your esteemed family! Maxima with love
Thanks, Stefan. Your wife is so right. Love is everything. π
I greatly appreciate your kind comments. Your friendship is such a blessing to me, thank you very much!
π
Same to you dear Adin! π
Thanks, Elizabeth. π
Such a sweet quote and I believe that completely. Happy Love month to you! The year really is flying by!
Thanks so much, Angelia. π
Adorable calendar you have β¦. Love teddies.
Going to be a sorry miserable old fart now, because I donβt agree with a love month β every month should be about love. This with spending money likes as mad for Valentineβs Day β and then not gives anything during the rest of the year. All shops and restaurants owners are clapping their hands when Valentineβs Day is coming up. What about a little present on a grey Monday without any reason.
I absolute hate all this with Valentineβs Day, Motherβs Day and Fatherβs Day β all for commercial gain. If we can remember each other and honor each other β love each other and show a little every day β why do it β¦ at all.
Have a great weekend!
Whatever, Viveka. π We all should show a lot of love every day. I so agree with you. Valentines day doesn’t have to be about spending lots of money, but to me it’s a special day for hearts and flowers. π
I love your romantic streak … *smile … but it’s the big spender day, far too much. I’m a cynical old hag. *laughing.
I’m afraid I know nothing of the pinch and punch (sounds wild) but happy love month to you also.
Thanks, Lynne. It’s only a playful pinch and punch. π
My friend has a collection Boyds bears that she bought in America, very cute!
I love them all. π
Happy ‘love month’ AD π
Thanks so much, Chris. π
Ugghhh. Love month!
Don’t bloody remind me!
Still. You have a slice of paradise right there AD, so happy Love month to you and Chris π
Thanks so much. π
Happy love month to you, Sylvia! π
Thanks, Cathy, and to you too. π
It was written for you! Fun tradition. For a month of good luck, we say “Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit” on the first of every month, before our feet touch the floor or before anything else comes out of our mouths.
Thanks, Naomi. I also know the ‘white rabbits’ one. The pinch and punch is supposed to have originated from old England and a belief in witches. People thought that salt would make a witch weak, so the pinch suggests salt, and the punch was to banish the weakened witch. You’re supposed to also say. “and no returns'” and then they can’t pinch you back. It also has to be done before midday. π
That’s a fabulous quote! Perfect for Feb.
I love it too. π
We always pinched and punched in our family Sylvia. π
In true English tradition. Hubby didn’t say “no returns” so I could have pinched and punched him back, but as it’s ‘love month’, I refrained. π
