On this Earth Day, 2013, I decided to share this wonderful song which I remember England Dan and John Ford Coley recorded in 1976. The words, “Love is the answer” are still as true now as they were then, but the ‘ticket to paradise’ is just as elusive.
“Name your price
A ticket to paradise
I can’t stay here any more
And I’ve looked high and low
I’ve been from shore to shore to shore
If there’s a short cut I’d have found it
But there’s no easy way around it
Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all, set us free
Love is the answer
Tell me, are we alive, or just a dying planet?
What are the chances?
Ask the man in your heart for the answers
And when you feel afraid, love one another
When you’ve lost your way, love one another
When you’re all alone, love one another
When you’re far from home, love one another
When you’re down and out, love one another
All your hope’s run out, love one another
When you need a friend, love one another
When you’re near the end, love one another
We’ve got to love one another.”
Here are just a few pics of some of the natural wonders of our world, which I’ve been privileged to see. The amazing wild animals, some of which are in danger of extinction because man has neglected to properly protect and care for their well-being. “Love is the answer.”
Another song which also came to mind, ofΒ is of course, “What a wonderful world.” How amazing are the truly natural wonders of our world.
We need to really care for this wonderful world we live in, to ensure its preservation for our children and our children’s children. Love is the answer.
Love is indeed the answer and our planet needs all the love and care it can get. Beautiful images of nature.
What a wonderful post , and such lovely photos . I really fell in love with the black swan. I have a lot of blog reading to catch up with now … The past week i havenΒ΄t got any time to sit down and read anything …

Thanks so much. π
Okay … you totally had me at … england dan and john ford coley. I have always LOVED this song. I feared that I might be the only one around who even remembers it exists. I love everything about this post from the song to your beautiful photos. As someone who loves animals (almost) more than people, the photos are so appropriate in reminding us of the beautiful diversity of nature that will be lost if we don’t get our ^%$#! together. Thanks. Fellow Life Buser Pam and I had the honor of spending time in Africa on safari among these magnificent animals … Seeing these animals in the wild was breathtaking.
Glad you enjoyed the blast from the past, lexi. It’s a wonderful song and often plays on my iPod. I’m so happy you’ve been able to enjoy some wildlife time in Africa. π
Oh boy, have you ever sent me down memory lane by quoting that duo…love it. Your pictures are absolutely fabulous!
A journey down memory lane is always a good thing, Elisa. π
What a beautiful tribute to the Earth on this Earth Day. Amazing π
Thanks, Diane. Glad you enjoyed. π
AHHHH – another beautiful post that brings the world to my computer. Thank you…
βWhat’s the use of a fine house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?β

Thank, Rebecca. Love that quote. It’s so true, isn’t it? π

Wow! What an incredible collection of photos Sylvia and what a great tribute for earth day. My favorite photos are the lion and the rainbow at (what I think is) Vic Falls

Thanks, Rosie. Yes, that is Vic Falls, and the other rainbow is New England in the fall. π
Love the music and pics…thanks Sylvia.

Got me singing, girl! And there’s plenty to sing about in these photos. π
Thanks, Jo. Love that song too. π
Really super Sylvia, I love the cheetah, such a sleek elegant creature, how lucky to get so close.
Thanks, Gilly. Yes, I could have stroked the cheetah if I’d just reached my hand out of the Jeep window, but I thought it wasn’t a wise thing to do. π
Us silly humans – we have all this and the only thing we do with it is to completely screw it up – go figure!!
Lovely pics AD
xx
Thanks so much. So true. Aren’t we a sad lot? π¦ xx

That white owl looks so cute and I once had hair like those two guys π
He does, and yes, you did once have hair. π
Perfect collection and words to celebrate this day! π
Thanks, Andy. π
so much on me soapbox that I forgot about the song…yes it is as relevant today as it was then…Love each other!
π
absolutely stunning pictures…MAN is to blame for the damage to the Earth , the extinction of animals, the enviroment…if only we could get all of us to love this Earth and its animals as some of us do. Elephants being killed for money, tigers for money, trees cut down for money… no matter how much money we make in killing the Earth we cannot take it with us when we die so what is the point…why cannot these people see this?…. A good subject and one that gets me going on my soapbox.
Thanks so much. I absolutely agree with you.
ED&JFC. Now that’s a “blast from the past.” I remember “spinning” that 45 back in the day when I was a deejay. Anywho, nice post and great pics. Happy Terra Firma 2 u, 2.
Thanks, Tom. Glad you enjoyed the pics and the blast of ED&JFC. π
All beautiful pictures, Sylvia, for Earth Day. I love all your animals, especially the spotted cat (is that a cheetah or leopard?) Anyway, happy earth day to you. π
Thanks so much, Cathy. The cheetah is really beautiful, isn’t she? Happy Earth Day to you too. π
Thanks for telling me which cat it is! π
A wonderful collection to promote Earth Day. Given your travels, you have experienced much of what this planet has to offer, thus you share it here daily. Well done!!!
Thanks so much, Frank. π
