Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting


The Weekly Photo Challenge this week, brought to mind a photo I took as we were travelling along a country lane in West Sussex last  year. The sun was filtering through the lovely trees which lined the road. We were on our way to see hubby’s mom. In less than two months’ time, we’ll be driving this same route on our way to celebrate her 100th birthday in August. Her long and healthy life certainly hasn’t been that fleeting, and the whole family are so excited to be able to share in the festivities which promise to be a really memorable occasion.

How does a person live for so long, and reach their centenary in good health, and with a smile on their face. I guess the answer must be, “Throughout your fleeting life, remember to treat your body as though it’s got to last you for at least a hundred years.”

  3. Great shot and 100 years. Wow! The Better Half’s grandparents are 91 and 93. It would be wonderful to celebrate 100 years with them.

  14. Love the effect you given this…..definitely fleeting. My grandfather passed when he was 103. He told the most interesting stories.

    I love your perspective on this challenge. The photo is beautiful–such movement to it. I wish your mum-in-law a happy 100th. Mine is just a spring chicken turning 90 next September.

  36. That is quite a remarkable picture AD.
    As for living to a hundred – the way things stand now, I have to decline that particular offer!! Then again, nobody knows what the next corner may hold…

  39. Good on Mom 100 don’t think I’ll make it… my Aunt in Natal turned 102 this year… and she remembers all the kids names as well as their kids… I have trouble remembering my own name…

    • Your aunt sounds like my MiL, who still plays competition scrabble, and has the most phenomenal memory for every birthday and knows who’s who in the the zoo, and what they’re all up to. 😉
