The Weekly Photo Challenge this week, brought to mind a photo I took as we were travelling along a country lane in West Sussex lastΒ year. The sun was filtering through the lovely trees which lined the road. We were on our way to see hubby’s mom. In less than two months’ time, we’ll be driving this same route on our way to celebrate her 100th birthday in August. Her long and healthy life certainly hasn’t been that fleeting, and the whole family are so excited to be able to share in the festivities which promise to be a really memorable occasion.
How does a person live for so long, and reach their centenary in good health, and with a smile on their face. I guess the answer must be, “Throughout your fleeting life, remember to treat your body as though it’s got to last you for at least a hundred years.”

Best advice EVER! π You’re on the same path, and I’m right there with you! π
So, we’ll go hand in hand into our dotage, Marsha. π
hahaha You got it! Walking on the beaches around the world in the morning using our canes! π
Great shot and 100 years. Wow! The Better Half’s grandparents are 91 and 93. It would be wonderful to celebrate 100 years with them.
Thanks so much, TBM. I wish the grandparents good health and many more years together. π

Thanks, Dianne. Yes, I must try to winkle some stories out of her whilst I’m there. π

Love the effect you given this…..definitely fleeting. My grandfather passed when he was 103. He told the most interesting stories.

I am a fan of English country lanes
Forgot to say that I hope your mum-in-law has a golden day on her golden day
Thanks so much. I’m sure she’ll enjoy every minute, and we’re making a weekend of it as well as her taking us on a Rhine cruise after the event. π
Me too, but I prefer someone else to do the driving whilst I generally keep my eyes closed. π
That’s how my Dad is when I’m driving but I think it may be fear!
Well so is mine. Those lanes are so narrow, and you often get a big shock as you round a bend, only to see another vehicle apparently coming straight for you. π―

Dear Sylvia,
I love your perspective on this challenge. The photo is beautiful–such movement to it. I wish your mum-in-law a happy 100th. Mine is just a spring chicken turning 90 next September.
Thanks, Naomi. A spring chicken indeed. π I wish your mom-in-law many more years in good health.
100 years … talk about an Iron Lady. Love your shot too … it’s like being sucked into the future ahead.
Thanks, Viveka. She is lucky to be so fit for her age. I like your comment about my pic. π

A great photo and wise words. I look forward to seeing the celebration photos π
Thanks, Gilly. I hope to post some really happy pics in August. π
That is quite a remarkable picture AD.
As for living to a hundred – the way things stand now, I have to decline that particular offer!! Then again, nobody knows what the next corner may hold…
Thanks, 68. One never knows what’s around the next corner. Hope it’s something good. π
Lovely !
Thank you. π
Looks like you were doing a ton in that pic AD. π
Well, it wasn’t me driving. Imagine if I had been, and taking the pic as well. π―
Good on Mom 100 don’t think I’ll make it… my Aunt in Natal turned 102 this year… and she remembers all the kids names as well as their kids… I have trouble remembering my own name…
Your aunt sounds like my MiL, who still plays competition scrabble, and has the most phenomenal memory for every birthday and knows who’s who in the the zoo, and what they’re all up to. π
Beautifully said! Congratulations to your mother-in-law.
Thanks, Rebecca. π
Sylvia – Words to live by as your mother-in-law, turning 100 soon, can attest.
Absolutely so. π
