If you’re looking for magic potions, dried frogs, llama foetuses, and other weird and wonderful good luck charms, the place to visit is El Mercado de las Brujas in La Paz, Bolivia.
Now I’m off to create some of my own piano magic at our local mall.Β See you later.
Enchanting! So Harry Potter like, Sylvia! I love this!
Thanks so much, Tahira. π
what interesting places you find for us
Glad you enjoyed this one, Jo. π
So they have their own market place. Yikes! Any broom sightings? Did you go back at night?
Scary stuff, Marsha. No I think they close up shop at dusk and go flying around on their broomsticks. π
hahaha Stay away from there Sylvia. They might try to cast a spell on you because you are so good! I hear that witches can be awfully jealous! π
They didn’t look too friendly, Marsha, so I kept my distance, and my fingers crossed. π
I’m glad. You are so little, they could sweep you up on their broomstick and fly away with you before you could even utter a sound! π You be careful! π
Ooh. I would love to visit this place. I pinned it so that I won’t forget.
Great. I’m glad you enjoyed. π
What a neato keen shot this is!
Thanks so much, Margie. π
can’t say that I’ll be looking for any of those things anytime soon AD, but thanks for the advice π
Cool photo too π
Thanks very much. π
Great shot. Love photos with this kind of detail – so intriguing. Did you buy any spells? π
Thanks, bluebee. No I didn’t really need any spells that day. π
Is there any place you haven’t been? Now no one goes to Bolivia..that is except me. Did you see the dehydrated llama fetuses? They were really weird.
Plenty of places still to explore, Emily. We were on a round the world trip on the way to my son’s wedding in Tahoe. No, I didn’t much like the look of them, and certainly wouldn’t pay good money for one. π
Wonderful colours and great shot! I would very much have wanted to visit…
Thanks, Ann Christine. It was a fascinating visit. π
What the Hex that market about? π
Hehehe. Good one, Col. π
You always capture the most amazing places…I don’t think my heart could take itβ₯
Thanks so much, Laurie. π
There are so many places like this that I would love to visit. Guess I will have to settle for your pics. Stunning.
Thanks so much, WM. Glad you enjoy my pics. π
What a great photo! I am not getting a lot of people I follow posts in my reader…..
Thanks so much, Cindy. I find that some of the people I follow don’t appear in my reader, or maybe I just miss them, π
hm, no thanks!
Thought not, Tandy. π
Life is a magical adventure filled with secrets that are waiting to be discovered. And if anyone know how to find them – it would be you!!!
βAnd above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.β
β Roald Dahl
Love the Roald Dahl quote, Rebecca. Yes, I agree with you about life being a magical adventure. We just have be brave. π
need i to be there………? π
Thanks, Yisha. π
I’m a little a-scared of witches, but this market looks cool!
I’m a lot scared of witches, Gemma. I didn’t step too close in case they cast a spell on me for taking photos and not buying anything. π
OMG! Not buy anything! Now I’m casting a spell in you! π
Eeek!!
I can just see witches creeping through this place! π
Exactly what I I saw, Dianne. π
but the title frightens the life out of me
That was my intent, Scott. πΏ
wow, great photo ad, just a bit more to offer than the usual herbs and spices!
Thanks, Christine. Yes, quite a bit more, actually. π
None of the mentioned items are on our list for today but what a fascinating place to look around and marvel at the strange offerings.
Can you imagine having a shopping list with such items written on it? π―
I’m called one of these regularly or maybe something like it!
Hahaha. If the black pointy cap fits……. π
Reminds me of the fetish market in Ghana, fascinating but creepy!
Hehehe. You’ll probably not be at all surprised to know that I didn’t venture inside. π
I’ll have to go there to get a love potion! LOL!
I don’t think so, Hopestar. It looked kinda spooky in there. π
Eeek, ok then π
Spoilt for choice AD ! Was a bit concerned to enlarge photo ….
Hahaha. Lots of amazing spells in that dark den. π
Ooooo I’ve been wanting a magic potion! Excellent Sylvia! π
I can’t imagine what you would need one for, Phil. π
Oh I’ve got ideas π― π
Most men have. πΏ
Well now I know where to go for that little extra something… π
Absolutely, Gunta. Tell them I sent you. π
I really like your picture!:) with love maxima
Thanks, Stefan. π
Thank you to my dear friend
Why do I always find it so difficult to remain quiet on a wordless Wednesday.??? Because you post the most interesting photos, so it’s all your fault…
Hahaha. Thanks, bulldog. You always post the nicest comments. π
Um, I’m a little scared. Have fun playing the piano!
Thanks, I did enjoy playing. π Yes it was too scary for me to go inside.
Great image. So atmospheric.
Thanks so much, Ron. π
really like the picture…more like a painting
Thanks so much. π
That could be an eerie place to look around.
I’m very sure it is. I wasn’t brave enough to go inside. π
Smashing photo Sylvia. π
Thanks so much, Adrian.
May i ask what you brought home with you from this market π …
I never been to Bolivia so i look forward to see more photos from your visit there // Maria π
I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I didn’t buy anything at all. The shop didn’t appeal to me. π
What was your purchase? Do tell!
Zilch. I couldn’t bring myself to go inside. The witches looked too scary. π
