My mother’s waters broke at around 11:30 at night. My father wouldn’t go out to the phone box until he had washed, shaved and changed. I was born just after 2a.m. π
I think my dad would have been the same. π
che bella! proprio uguale a Valentino Rossi…ha ha ha
Hahaha. Good comment, Ventis. Valentino is such a great motorcyclist. π
Love the old photos !
Yes, they are so fascinating. π
I tried to use some but they just seem to fade when reproduced .

Long ago and so far away……………..
Yes, Madelaine. It’s really a strange feeling to see such photos of relatives who we’ve never met.
I love older photographs like this one, so thanks for sharing.
Me too. Glad you enjoyed this one. π
That’s a neat shot and a part of history.
Thanks, TBM. I thought it was worth sharing. π
Always lovely to see these vintage bikes. Love it Sylvia and thanks for sharing hon. π *hugs*
Thanks so much, Sonel. Glad you enjoyed my old pic. π
love it!
Thanks, Tandy. π
what a fabulous photo…so different from what we have in this day and age! thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Heather. I’m glad you enjoyed looking at it. π
I am wondering then the motorcycle perhaps is more of recreational than one of the main transporter. Thinking about it again, that is still perhaps true for certain region. By today standard, missing a helmet is the most concerning thing to see.
I agree that helmets are essential these days. The photo was taken almost 100 years ago, when roads were much quieter and traffic was much slower. π
classy!!
π Thanks, Christine.
and ride a whole lot slower too!
This is true, Gilly. π
This shot is a treasure, and a good argument for dapper dressing!
Absolutely! π
Love, love, love motorcycles. Great vintage shot!!!
Thanks, Gunta. It was quite a find. π
Good old machines!
Well, I used to wear school uniform on mine. Junior school. Although 98cc, it had pedals, so it was classified as a bicycle.
I can imagine you in short pants, Col. I don’t think you’re as old as this bike. π
LOVE it! π
The DC
Of course you do, Steve. π
Very smart ad π
Thanks, Hopestar. I’m sure he was the bee’s knees on that. π
Nice! Reminds me of Motorcycle Diaries π
I haven’t seen the movie, but it sounds like an epic journey.
wouldn’t we all be impressed today?
Yes, I guess we would. π
My husband and I would both attest to that! We both have our licenses, but the Harleys had to be sold for a couple of reasons. We swear, when he retires, we will get another. Great photo. I remember when men wore suits everywhere ~ ball games, ice cream parlors, bowling ~ well, I’m not sure about bowling. π
Oh, I’d love to see a pic of you on a Harley, Gemma. I also remember when suits were the in thing on the beach. π
I had exactly one pic. Still looking…;-)
Don’t forget. π
wow! you don’t see motorbikes like those on the road these days, It would definitely be a head turner π
Yes it would be a real novelty, Andy. π
Absolutely! they just don’t make them like they used to π
How cute is that? Wearing suits and dresses to the beach was a similar expression of the era.
Oh yes, and I have the beach pics too. π
How adorable. I hope you have a reason to post them also! π I thought the suit on the motorcycle was priceless! π
What a great photo.
What is that by his foot? Is it a horn? If so, did you have to kick it?!
Thanks, Lance. I have no idea, but my guess would be that it’s a dynamo.
and no head gear… pity you don’t still have the bike…
Well I’m sure he didn’t want to spoil that beautiful hair style. π
My dad has a motorcycle in the shed…how aproposβΊ
