“Obsession is when something will not leave your mind.”Β ~ Eric Clapton
This one is for my dear blog friend, Gunta. Since I first posted this pic in January this year, it would appear that she hasn’t been able to erase the image from her brain, as she has mentioned it on several occasions in her comments, and I threatened to re-post it if the opportunity ever arose, so here you are, Gunta. I hope you don’t have nightmares tonight. π
I managed to get a shot of this blingy manicure, when on a flight from Lamanai to San Pedro. I engaged the Belizean lady in conversation, with the express intention of blogging her nails. She proudly informed me that the safety chains were necessary because her βpinkyβ nails were crafted from solid gold.

Amazing, to walk around with art work on your hands.
Hehehe. I hope she was insured. π
Over the top!
You could definitely say that, LuAnn, and you did. π
She likes shiny things π
Must have a magpie somewhere in the DNA π
A good observation, 68. π
Oh my goodness……how can you do any work with nails like that. Great photo by the way.
Thanks, Linda. I wouldn’t be able to do anything with those appendages on my finger ends. π
This fits perfectly, Sylvia and I must admit – does seem leaning into the direction of obsession. Or more than leaning… π
And I bet Gunta was absolutely overjoyed to see it again! π
Thanks, Ese. Glad you ‘like’ it. Yes, I think that seeing it again, really made Gunta’s day. π
That is obsession alright!
Absolutely. π
Eeek…. A bit excessive I think.
Just a bit, Rommel. π
Those nails…eeeeeek
π¦
π
Good grief! Clearly she is not a housewife. LOL! Lovely shot Sylvia and lucky for her that she has the chains on. It looks like the one pinky nail is about ready to fall off…
Hehehe……..I would say so too. She was on her way to a family birthday party, but I guess she wasn’t planning on helping with the washing up. π
hahahah, clearly not! π
Well, i also do my nails once a month … But i never ever had nails like hers π … I call my nails, nurse nails with a French touch π … Maria π
Now that sounds like a very interesting style of nail-do, Maria. It sounds quite exotic, especially with the ‘French touch’. π
π … My nails are rather short, because of my job as nurse …. And i always have french manicure … So that is why i call them nursenails with a French touch π … // Maria π
OMG!! They are just dreamy. Gold? What the?? Lol
How beautiful, right? Have a great day, Sylvia. Hugs to you, Paula xxx
Hahaha…….I know you really want these nails, Paula. π
Happy day to you too. xx
I really do! Lol xxx
I remember this one, too. I can’t imagine doing anything in those nails. That must be the point. Definitely a conversation piece.
Thanks, Lynne. Yes, that pic is quite unforgettable. I think Gunta once said that it was seared on her brain. π

I can’t imagine how long it takes to do a manicure like that. I get regular plain manicures and get tired after 30 minutes. How does she manage to clean and dust? BUT … it’s the perfect photo for the challenge. Lucky you for taking the photo.
Issy xo
Well, I think they are all false nails, just glued on. π― When I spotted her, sitting just across and in front of me, I knew that I had to get a photo. Luckily, she was so proud of them that she gladly posed for me. π
The gold was fascinating too. I like to wear gold but in nicer places … like my ears or neckline. ~~~~~ : – )
Me too, Issy. I’m also a golden girl. π
A fascinating subject for the photo and the very definition of obsession.
Thanks, John. Glad you enjoyed. π
Oh wow, definitely worth a second look! I would have started talking to her too just to get the picture!
Yes, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to snap them. π
Very serious manicure! I remember this one π
How could you possibly forget? π
π
Wow! I feel like nails like these would essentially render her helpless. They’re beautiful, but solid gold! I can’t stop thinking of all the things she CAN’T do with nails like these — open a car door, dial a phone, zip her jeans…
Now I’m getting obsessed.
Hehehe. She had small grandchildren too. How does a granny hug them, or change a diaper? π―
lol…now that is a manicure…one way to get out of cleaning the bathrooms! π
Hehehe. Now why didn’t I think of this? π
spero di non ricevere mai uno sgraffio dalla signora…poi mi piacerebbe sapere come fa a dormire, si toglie gli abiti e le unghie? ;-(
I hope not to ever receive a Mrs sgraffio … then I’d like to know how do you sleep, you take off your clothes and your nails?
Needless to say, your beauty shot!
Thanks, Ventis. No you certainly wouldn’t want a scratch from those nails. π
Does that make hands less useful?
i would certainly think so. π
Once seen, never forgotten.
Of course, if she really wanted to suffer for her art the safety-chains could have been attached to safety pins poked through the fingers?
Ouchie, Col! π― Now you’ve made my stomach do funny things.
That is wild, wild stuff Sylvia. π
I do recall that the first time I posted this, you commented something about an itch in the middle of your back. π
You are 100% correct Sylvia, I wasn’t going to bring that up though. π π
Well I’m so glad that I did then. π
Holy…wow. Now that’s a manicure!
Hehehe. It sure beats even yours. π
Seriously! I don’t know how she can do anything!! Although I am green with envy over the gold pinkies…I think…
π
That might be the most expensive manicure that I’ve ever seen!
I’m sure it is, RoSy, and the blingiest. π
Wish you could have heard the burst of laughter when I pulled this entry of yours up! Shall we keep this one-upmanship going, or call it quits? π
Hehehe. Your comment also made me laugh so much too. Okay, lets call it quits……for now. π
I remember these too AD :- x
Is it really all that time ago … just think where you have been since then π
Well, how could you possibly forget, Poppy. π Yes, it does seem an age ago to me. I’m off to Costa Rica next month. Who knows what I might find there? π
That is some serious bling! π
You could say that, Hopestar. π
I would have destroyed those nails because I’m not used to super long nails π
I can’t imagine you trying to type with long nails. π
wow! π
π
a lady of leisure?
Obviously. π
I have always been one for the obvious π
Very Nice..
Really? π
yeah
Wouldn’t be much use for peeling the spuds or washing the dishes. Pretty cool tho
This is true, Patrecia. In fact I can’t think of any household task that one could do with nails that long. π
Defleaing the dog? π
So perfect for that, footsy. You’re brilliant! π
