“Blue colour is everlastingly appointed by the Deity to be a source of delight” ~ John Ruskin
The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. I think if I had to choose just one favourite colour, it would have to be blue. I’ve seen so many beautiful shades of blue, and they never fail to lift my spirits.
There’s the cool refreshing aqua of the ocean.
The celestial blue of the sky on a clear day.
The welcomingΒ shade of blue umbrellas on the white sandy beach.
The indigo blue of the sky peeping through fluffy clouds.
The gorgeous blues of the ocean seen from above the clouds.
The always sparkling blue of our swimming pool here in Florida,
and not forgetting the beautiful blues of the sea and sky back home in South Africa.
What a lovely choice Ad, it so suites you and so many of your photos in other posts feature blue
Thanks, Pommepal. I’m sure you’re right about that. π
Lovely blue shots all around π
Thanks, Inga. Glad you liked these. π
Beautiful things are blue as you have shown in this lovely post. Margie
Thanks so much, Margie. π
Beautiful shots. Great stuff all around us, huh ad? Nice captures. π
Thanks, Gemma. I agree, with you about the beautiful stuff all around. π
Look at all those images. I am green with envy. π Love the clouds in all of the pictures.
Funny how feeling blue means a sad emotion. You certainly proof whoever first said that wrong! π
Thanks so much, Rommel. Clouds are really gorgeous, aren’t they? Hope you’re only feeling green and not blue today. π
I love your choices of blue. I’m not sure I have any that capture that beautiful turquoise, which is really my favorite right now. These pictures make me want to jump right into them! Oh, but then I’d be in paradise. Would I still be alive? Oops, I forgot, I’m already in paradise – of my own making, and I’m alive. Isn’t life grand? π
Well, I’m very much alive, Marsha, even after jumpin right into that beautiful turquoise. Well maybe, I didn’t exactly jump, it was more of a leisurely wade. π
I can tell that you are totally alive, even living each day in paradise. It’s all that beautiful blue keeping us young! π
π Absolutely, Marsha.
How beautiful! This is such a wonderful collection of photos.
Thanks so much, John. π
Love them all, but no5 is exquisite.
Thanks, Linda. π
I have skyblue for a car. I don’t know when I started falling in love with it. It is just so pleasing to the eye.
Thanks, Bebs. Sky blue is so lovely. π
I believe your last shot is my favorite. π
Yes, I do miss that view. π
Beautiful quality and composition of photographs.
Thank you. π
Great photos. And I really like that Eleanora Duse quote. π
Thanks so much, Lance. π
Excellent. Now I realize the beauty of blue!!!
Thanks so much, Praveena. π
..and you look terrific in blue :). Even your swimsuit is blue :D. You know something – it is very smart of you to wear a hat while swimming – I never do, but now you have given me the idea π
Thank you, Paula. π This hat always accompanies me on vacation, and helps to keep the sun from doing too much damage to my hair and skin. It was such a bargain, as I’ve had it for about 10 years, and it’s as well travelled as I am. I hope I never lose it. I nearly did once when it blew off into the sea in Belize, but our skipper turned the boat around and rescued it for me. π
I am not sure this is a nature of us or not but I think people like looking up to see blue sky from time to time. Perhaps what Eleanora Duse said is true.
I’m sure Ms Duse was quite correct, YC. Blue sky is wonderful to see. π
AaaaH I envy you!! You make me blue with envy!! π
Hehehe That’s so funny! I like “blue with envy.” π
The darkest shades of vermilion blue with envy!! π

Got a bit behind with reading blogs as we’ve been in Portugal for the past two weeks – expect another postcard!!
I think the colour blue suits you perfectly, Sylvia. Gorgeous photos – every one π
Thanks so much, Marianne. Portugal? How lovely! I’ll look forward to your postcard. π xx
Playing catch-up here… hope you didn’t get that hat wet! π
Thanks, Gunta. My hat has often been wet in the sea and the swimming pool, and has also been through the washing machine, countless times. It’s indestructible, and I love it. π
All beautiful hues of blue You cooling off in the pool is the best. Have a great weekend. Tonight we are in Natchez and we have blue skies and muddy waters (Mississippi River), but we have just traveled through the Miss. “blues country”.
Thanks, Lynne. How lovely for you and Ron to be travelling in “blues country.” Are you going to New Orleans? Have a great trip. π
Going through New Orleans, but not staying. Have been there a couple of times. We’ll be in bayou country for a few days….back roads and areas. Hope to find some really good Cajun food, though.
divine blues ad, I can’t understand the idea of ‘blue’ being used for depression …. especially love the ocean and clouds π
Thanks so much, Christine. Yes, I also think that blue is a really uplifting colour. Maybe “I’m feeling dark grey” would be more appropriate for feeling depressed or anxious. π
fabulous blues, which is one of my favorite colors…can’t have just one! π
Thanks, Heather. Yes, you/re right, can’t have just one. π
What a paradox that blues can chase the blues away! These prove it, none the less.
Thanks, Col. π
certamente tu sei viva, e la tua anima Γ¨ azzurra! ( per me l’azzurro Γ¨ la piΓΉ bella tonalitΓ del colore blu )
π
certainly you are alive and your soul is azzurra! (for me the azzurro is the most beautiful shade of blue)
Grazie mille per il tuo bel commento, Ventis. π
That all looks sooooo nice – especially now as things here are a bit too chilly. Brrrr…
Sorry, RoSy, but I’ve quite forgotten what chilly is. π
You’re not missing anything.
Hate me! π
LOL – No way I could. Enjoy the sun & if you find a way to send some extra rays up here – please do.
I did try, RoSy. Did you get any yet? π
Thanks – Some here today. I hope it hangs out a while. We have our trick-or-treat day today.
What lovely places you live in! But my favourite photo is the one of the birds flying home π
Thanks, Gilly. Yes, I also love that pic. π
Gorgeousness!! I’m ready for the Caribbean in January!!
Thanks, Cindy. I may just beat you to it. I’m going to Costa Rica next month. π
I love that last photo.
Thanks, Debra. I do miss it when I’m away.
Blue is indeed the colour with the most amazing hues in nature – lovely pics AD π
Glad you agree with me. π Have a great weekend. xx
Beautiful photos … Blue is my favourite color …
I must ask, do you live in both Florida and South Africa ? … // Maria π
Thanks so much, Maria. Yes we do have a home in both countries, and spend 6 months in each, winter in South Africa, and winter in Florida, which avoids the heat and humidity of both summers. π
Lovely post AD . You wear Ocean Blue very well π and it’s a perfect backdrop to your sky flying !
Who doesn’t love the blues of aqua sapphire lapis lazuli indigo ultramarine … sigh*
Thanks so much, dear Poppy. Yes, so many delicious shades of blue, even in denims. π
So Beautiful. I am jealous

Thanks, bulldog. Hubby also loves blue, and it suits him so well. π
Blue is my favorite too! And I’m in love with your photographs. β₯
Thanks so much. π
Of these lovely blues, the cloud photo stands out. It reminded me of a poem about clouds – White sheep white sheep on a blue hill… Have a great day, Adin. π
I never heard of that poem, so had to look it up. It’s very cute indeed. Thanks, Imelda. π
awesome pictures of blue! love all of it and i agree, blue is a delight to the soul! and, e. duse’s quote is so true! thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much, Lola. I enjoyed your blues too. π
You’ve capture blue as well as my blue eye … and nice hat!
Thanks, Frank. That is my favourite hat, and has been all around the world with me for the last ten years. π
… and the stories it carries that you share with us.What does the hat say? Hmmmm … here’s an idea … a post about the hat.
It says, “Mean Season,” which has been very appropriate at times. π
I have a difficult time matching “mean” to you.
Thanks for the compliment, Frank. π
Love the aqua blues of the ocean. I always think holidays.
Thanks, Michelle. I always think ‘holidays’, every day. π
Sounds like all your days would have a positive air about them Sylvia. I know you often bring a smile to my face. I enjoy your sense of humour and I have to thank you for that.
I’m so glad about that, Michelle. π Have a wonderful week. xx
Paradise. π
Thanks so much, Heila. π
