Wild weekly photo challenge: Sunsets

I’m participating in the Lets be Wild, online adventure travel magazine competition.

For the competition, bloggers are invited to share their favourite sunset photographs.

I just had to include some of our magnificent Florida sunsets. I never cease to be amazed at how beautiful and varied they are. These were taken after rushing out of my kitchen whilst preparing the evening meal. It’s so important to get ones priorities right. 🙂

This stunning sunset was taken during ‘happy hour’ at our local golf course.

If you go to Hawaii, it’s almost compulsory to visit Sunset Beach, pick your perfect spot and wait patiently for that sunset to arrive.

Venice Lagoon is also  a great place to capture that memorable sunset,

These photos were taken from the Island of San Clemente, on which our hotel stood.

From the motor launch taxi, we got this shot of the setting sun, highlighting the 17th century ‘Basilica Maria della Salute’, which stands in a prominent position between the Grand Canal and the Bacino di San Marco.

A visit to New England in the Fall, is supposed to be all about leaf peeping, but after a rainy afternoon, it can yield a delightfully surprising sunset moment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my sunset pics. If you would like to be kind enough to vote for me, please visit this link. http://www.letsbewild.com/photo-challenge/wild-weekly-photo-challenge-6-sunsets/

Silhouettes and sunsets

What a perfect challenge this week, to show of a couple of Florida sunsets. My bloggie-friend Gunta, has requested exactly that, so without further ado, here they are.

Yesterday evening we decided to go to the bar at the club, for the first time since we got back here. Walking through the door, I was greeted with the familiar sight of a beautiful flower arrangement in the foyer.

Arriving in the Sunset Lounge, it was just as though we’d never left. The same people were sitting at the same tables, chatting and sipping their drinks. “Your back!!” came the cry, as Dru the barman enveloped me in a big bear-hug. He said that my piano playing had been sorely missed, so I promised that next week, I would play for them all again. As we sipped our wine, the sun was slowly sinking, and I got a rather mediocre ‘almost sunset’ pic.

Dru then showed me a rather spectacular sunset which he’d captured on his iPhone only last week, and I asked him if I could share it with you. He agreed, and here it is:

Tonight, my cooking was interrupted for a quick click, to capture the start of the sunset. You really must expect palm tree silhouettes in Palm Beach County; it’s a foregone conclusion. 🙂

Whilst we were having dinner, I decided that my salmon could wait for a few minutes, because I needed to  capture the silhouettes outside the window.

Ailsa also used ‘Silhouette’ as her travel theme in August, and I used my best pics for that. Here’s the link, if you would like to check it out.
